Masonboro Island

Masonboro is known for having better waves for surfing and more often than not, there are an abundance of shells for the taking! Masonboro Island is the largest undisturbed barrier island along the southern part of the North Carolina coast and is located approximately five miles southeast of Wilmington, in the most populous part of the North Carolina coast. The Masonboro site is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway to the west, Masonboro Inlet to the north, and Carolina Beach Inlet to the south. Rich's Inlet

Anchor up and soak in the sun and water on one of the tide islands that appear at low tide and then magically disappear at high tide.

Don't forget to pack yourself a lunch and plenty of sunscreen. The swimming is spectacular. You are also just a short walk to the ocean from where your boat is anchored at. To see when the low tide is going to be, follow this link.

Mott's Channel Seafood

motts channel seafoodMott's Channel seafood is a locals favorite. The seafood market is one of the freshest in town, and because you are on a boat, it is boat accessable.

Here is a review of the place:

Five stars for the fantastic, fresh seafood I picked up here while on vacation in the area this past week. Mott's offers a variety of fresh catches, from Chilean sea bass to the salmon steaks we picked up to shrimp sorted by size. There is also a bunch of prepackaged and prepared offerings in the coolers. We grilled the salmon steaks and they were to die for, and the crab diavolo was sweet as well.
